Bradburn Brief - January 2020
Dear Sandy Resident,
Happy New Year! I hope your holiday was joyous and presented the opportunity to connect to loved ones. Can you believe it’s 2020? We live in exciting and interesting times, filled with modern conveniences that provide great advantages but also present new challenges. It will be fascinating to see what the next decade brings to the human experience.
Reflecting back on the last year, we learned some really important lessons. One of which being that the city had outdated tools for emergency communication. City staff have spent the last year updating our resident information and expanding our communication channels. There are now several ways to connect with you in the event of an emergency. It is critically important that you are signed up with these programs and/or your contact information is up to date. Here are a few ways you can ensure that we are able to contact you in the event of an emergency:
The city has invested in the Sandy CityServe app to make reporting city issues easier. This tool also allows the city to contact residents. Please take a moment to locate the Sandy City Serve app on your app store. Download and set up an account in order to receive future communications. The city will not be able to contact you unless you have created an account so don’t forget that step! From the CityServe app, you will also be able to file service reports, hear about events, and more.
In recent survey results, the majority of residents would like to be contacted during an emergency by text messages. To accomplish this, we have built a system that works through Sandy City utility billing. You must have an updated cell phone number on your utility account in order to receive text messages. Please take a moment to make sure your information is added or updated at sandy.utah.gov/payments.
Finally, the communications staff has consolidated and updated the city email lists. These can now be used to send out email communications citywide. You can sign up for the email list on the Citizen Connect page at sandy.utah.gov/citizen-connect.
Don’t forget you can always get more information by going to our City websites sandy.utah.gov and SandyNow.com and by following our social media channels @SandyCityUtah on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and SandyCityUT on YouTube for updated information. You can also send me a direct email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you again for allowing me to serve as your Mayor!
Mayor Kurt Bradburn
