Bradburn Brief: June 2018

Post Date:05/31/2018 12:00 PM

Dear Sandy Residents,

Summer is finally here! Students are anxious for school to let out and parents are looking for ways to keep them busy. As you can see in this newsletter, Sandy City has tons of options to help! Our family has taken full advantage of all of the wonderful summer activities that the city has to offer. We take a break from the heat by rotating our time between the pool and the Amphitheater Splash Pad. Our four children are learning to swim at Alta Canyon Sports Center and we have made lots of great summer memories by attending the Movies in the Park.

This year, we are adding a few new activities for your summer fun. The Food Truck League will be hosting Food Truck Nights every Monday in the Amphitheater parking lot starting Memorial Day weekend. You can sample local food truck fare while the kids splash at the park or just enjoy the amazing view of the valley. We will also be hosting the Hoop’N in the Hive, Utah’s largest three-on-three basketball tournament on August 3rd and 4th. Located in the promenade area near City Hall, 25,000 people are expected to attend with 500 teams, 200 volunteers and 40 courts! You will also find an outdoor festival with shopping, food and interactive entertainment. Register for the tournament at

Don’t forget to practice firework safety during this summer holiday season. The days you can use fireworks legally have been shortened to July 2nd-5th and July 22nd-25th.  Also make sure to check the map online to see where the restricted fireworks areas are in the city. Last year, the fire department responded to dozens of firework related incidences and we want you to enjoy the holidays safely!

Thank you again for the opportunity to serve you. As always, I welcome your input and engagement — you can connect with us and stay informed on our City websites and and on our social media channels Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube for information updated daily.
